Fritz!box 7490 Connection Setup

To setup the Connection:

  • Connect modem to power.
  • Connect modem to DSL.
  • Connect modem to computer (i.e.: PC or laptop).

On your computer, launch your Web Browser (e.g.: Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox).

Step 1

Type 192.168.178.1 into the address bar.

Try fritz.box if 192.168.178.1 doesn't work.

Step 2

A popup will then ask for a Username and Password.

The username is normally created by you when you originally set this modem up, otherwise try admin for the username and admin for the password.

It may not ask for a login.

Step 3.

Click "Internet" on the Left.

Step 4.

Click "Account Information".

Step 5.

Ensure the settings below match:

Internet Service Provider:

Select "Other Service Provider" for "Select your Internet service provider".

Type "Flip" for "Name".

Line:

Account Information:

Is account information required?

Select "Yes".

Enter the Flip Username and Password.

Your Username will look like '12345678@flip.co.nz'.

If you are unsure of what your Username and Password is, send us an email to support@flip.co.nz or call our Technical Support.

Tick "Check the Internet connection after "Apply" has been clicked".

Step 6.

Connection Settings.

Open "Change connection settings".

Internet Connection.

Select "Maintain permanently".

VLAN Settings.

Leave Unticked.

DSL ATM Settings.

Select "Detect automatically".

Step 7.

Tick "Check the Internet connection after "Apply" has been clicked".

Step 8.

Click "Apply".

You should now be online!

If this does not work, try the steps below:

Step 1.

Click "Wizards" on the Left.

Step 2.

Click the "Check Internet Connection", "Setting Up Internet Connections", or "Configure Internet Connection".

Step 3.

Select "More Internet service providers".

Select "Other Internet service provider" and click "Next".

Step 4

Follow the Steps and enter the Flip Username and Password.

Your Username will look like '12345678@flip.co.nz'.

Step 5.

Finish the steps and then hopefully you are now online!
